New Senior Care Role

From October 2016 we introduced this role ‘the senior carer’ within our organisation as part of our development for supporting and improving service delivery as well as regular monitoring. As of early November 2017 we have modified this role as the ‘the working group’ composed of 5 of our most experienced carers, Tracy Wilson, Tracy Thomson, Karen Hogg, Sarah O’Neil and Breedge Reid. Sarah and Breedge are also in charge of training our new staff! The working group will be aiming to ensure that all clients’ needs are met, carers are arriving to clients on time and if there are any issues that clear communication will be made between the working group and the office staff. The working group will also be providing ongoing support to our new staff, carrying out observations, home visit assessments and 1:1’s.

SVQ Social Services & Healthcare

Registration is a major part of the drive for higher standards in social services and is bringing the social service workforce in line with other professional colleagues. Nursing, medicine, and teaching are all regulated professions and workers have to register with their own regulatory bodies to be able to work in their field. Social service workers have to do the same.

Registration of social services workers has an important role in improving safeguards for people using services and increasing public confidence in the social service workforce.

The SSSC Registration is now open – it is essential for all new care workers to register to the SSSC within 6 months of starting the job.
