All about me!
I am an active, observant and excitable young man who loves spending time in my garden, messy play, drives and watching Disney or Pixar films. I love shredding all materials and I enjoy a varied diet. I love snacks and have a big sweet tooth. I am non-speaking which means I don't communicate through typical speech but I do make a variety sounds which show how I feel and what I need. This takes a bit of getting used to but I will also hold your and and guide you to what I want. I can take time to get used to you but generally I'm fun loving and become affectionate when I trust you. I really like to play and I like when staff show me new activities and help me figure them out. I don't like glasses or zippers. You can keep glasses on at a safe distance but I will flick my hand for you to take these off. I will also try to unzip any zips I see, so please be mindful of this.
Joe Stoddard- born 07.09.1998. Has no known allergies. Joe is a highly active, observant, and excitable young man who loves to spend time in his garden. Joe loves messy play, drives and watching TV. Joe's favourite movies are Pixar and Disney. Joe also loves to shred things like paper, herbs, fabric, and other materials. Joe has a big, sweet tooth and loves to have snacks. Joe is non-speaking, which means he does not communicate through typical speech, but he does make sounds which show how he feels and what he needs/ wants. This will take a bit of getting used to, Joe will also hold your hand and guide you to what he wants or needs. It can take Joe time to get used to unfamiliar faces, but he is fun, loving and will become affectionate when he trusts you. Joe really likes to play and likes when staff shows him new activities and help him to figure them out. Joe's parents are particularly important to him, he enjoys when his parents visit and take him out in the car.
Joe does not like glasses or zippers. You can keep glasses on at a distance, but he will flick his hand at you for you to take them off. He will also try to unzip any zips in sight, so please be mindful of this. Joe has Autism, Epilepsy and Global Development Delay. This means that he will take longer and will need more support to reach milestones. Global Development Delay is when someone is significantly delayed in their cognitive and physical development.
Joe has a section 47 certificate of incapacity, which means he has no capacity. This means he has a legal guardian, Daniel Stoddart (dad). Daniel makes joes decisions on his behalf. As his care providers this means we make decisions on his behalf regarding his daily living and to keep him safe. however, we support him to make choices he can make such as choosing a snack or his clothes.

Joe tends to bang on doors, walls, floors, and windows a lot especially if he is heightened. This can mean many different things, when Joe bangs on the kitchen door he normally wants staff interaction or some snacks, or sometimes it is because he likes the sound and vibrations. Joe will slam his bedroom door and the bathroom door when he is anxious or if the door has been left open, he might also do this if he is dysregulated.
